Welcome to Templ

Mikulov is, in the words of the poet Jan Skácel, "a piece of Italy moved to Moravia by God's hand." The position of Mikulov has ensured in the changing historical and administrative circumstances an enormous richness of ethnic and cultural influences from all over central and southern Europe. The blending of Moravian, Jewish, and Austrian cultures as well as strong influences from Italy, Slovakia and Hungary has led to the birth of a unique architectural collage accented by the distinctive character and colour of hills and cliffs of Palava.
The unique merging of architectural styles and a raw slice through the course of history fully resonates in the changing look of the houses with its Renaissance foundations, Baroque reconstruction and Classical facade. Also the former Michelshteter Synagogue has undergone much rebuilding which is reflected in many an unintended composition such as the double outer wall which forms a hidden niche for two. The art conception of the reconstructed spaces and recesses is an attempt at a lyrical evocation of medieval and Hebrew archetypes intended to create a basic frame of the loose Renaissance atmosphere of the Templ Hotel.
Nature has also left its signature on the richness, sincerity and beauty of the regional wines and variety and imaginativeness of culinary treats inspired by the best of the national cuisine of the whole region. The Templ Hotel strives to be an honest imprint of the beauty of the Mikulov region. It offers a whole palette of the best wines by small wine-producers and the topmost vintners from the whole central-European region with an emphasis on southern Moravia, Weinviertel, Burgenland, Záhorie and Hungary. However, we could not omit Tuscany, where the Dietrichsteins, the lords of the Mikulov fief, used to stay on their travels and which become the model for the creation of the Pálavsko landscape shaped by man.
The impressions and sensations from the prepared dishes and their flavour and aroma are tinged with the various shapes, outlines and moods of the individual spaces of the hotel. The elegance of the cross vaults harmonises with the gentle merging of inspiration from cuisines in the historical region.
